Tēnā koutou katoa,
Welcome to August everyone! Firstly I would like to put a huge shout out to our executive who have done heaps of work and sorting this last month as I haven’t been feeling well. They are an awesome team and we are lucky to have them. We have another exciting month planned, beginning with a new dinner venue - the Hawera Club on High street. Times remain the same but dinner pricing is reducing to $35 and don’t forget to bring money for raffle or a drink and a camelia (we have 34 left to sell). I hope you are all excited to try the new venue! As it’s young BPW month make sure you encourage a younger women you know to attend with you. We have three great young women - Lisa, Rachel and Alex coming to speak on their cracker and cocktail garnish business. See more info below. We are also asking this month for you to bring a donation for our meet the candidates night supper, which will be held on 15th September at the community centre. We are hosting this event alongside the Normanby and District Lions. The event starts at 6:30 and please let us know if you can help out on the night. Supper donations can either be non perishable supper food or money. We managed to gather a great range of questions at the July meeting so it should be a stimulating night. At our August meeting we will also have BPW NZ President Christine Berridge and BPW NZ Vice President Janet Gibbs visiting. I’m sure you will give them a warm welcome and also come dressed in yellow to celebrate BPW’s birthday. Finally nominations will be open for BPW Hawera executive at the August meeting and don’t forget about our Women's education scholarship which is open now. Look forward to seeing you all on the 15th!
