Tēnā koutou katoa,
As per usual the months are flying by and now we come to one of our favourite dinner meetings, Candle lighting, where we celebrate in solidarity with our sisters across the world.
While we celebrate this month, it will also be tinged with sadness as this will be our last official meeting at Tairoa Lodge. I know I speak for everyone when I say we have loved being at Tairoa and getting treated like queens by Linda and her team. So I encourage everyone to attend this month, not just for candle lighting but to say farewell and celebrate Linda and Tairoa.
The executive after reviewing menus and prices have decided to try out the Hawera club for our August meeting which will hopefully become our new meeting venue. We will discuss this further with you at the July meeting.
This month our scholarship also opens and you can find all the details on our website and links on the Facebook page. We will be hearing from our 2021 recipient, Catherine Trowbridge, on her studies at the July meeting. We will also be hearing from Kay Legge about our twinning celebration with Denver Colorado.
Our wine fundraiser has now opened so share far and wide and get those orders in. Orders are due back on 18th July (next dinner meeting). Money raised from the fundraiser will go towards our women’s education scholarship.
The executive have also started working on our main community event for the year, a celebration in September for Sufferage. Let us know if you are interested in helping out to plan and organize this event.
Finally, I’d like to get expressions of interest at our July meeting from anyone who would like to help contribute to our welcome pack info for new members. This is a one-pager document about our club, with the template coming out of our membership taskforce. But really this is a document about our club and it would be great to have members outside the executive contribute.
Hope you keep safe and well and look forward to seeing you on the 18th of July.
