Tena kotoe Katoa,

Well what a full-packed month last month was! BPW conference, resolution reviews and Anzac Day.  A big congratulations to our very own Rebecca Treeby who has been elected onto BPW national executive as Vice President - Membership. Go Rebecca! they are so lucky to have you.

Also a big congratulations to us for winning the Marketting award again this year. Thank you to Anita for preparing our submission and all those involved in the Meet the Candidates night last year. You can read all about the conference, resolutions and our new Executive in Rebecca’s report attached.

Thank you also to Toni and Kay for representing BPW Hawera at the Anzac Dawn service, and thank you to Angelika for creating the beautiful wreath (see pictures below).  Some amazing, brave and courageous women have served in our armed forces and ancillary forces and Anzac Day is an important time to remember these trail blazers.

This month we are joined by Samantha Turner, who alongside her husband runs The Grange, which won the Taranaki Ballance Farm Environment Awards. They also won several other awards, including the Ballance Agri-Nutrients Soil Management, Beef + Lamb New Zealand Livestock Farm and Taranaki Regional Council Sustainability awards. The Grange has been in the family since the1880, with the Turners striving to enhance sustainability for the benefit of future generations. Samantha is also an active member of the Hawera Repertory Society and has directed numerous successful plays. We look forward to hearing all about Sam’s professional and social life at our May (15th) dinner at the Hawera Club.

As it is Mother's Day this month please feel free to bring along any special women in your lives to dinner and invite far and wide this month to any guests who may be interested in our speaker. We will aim to put up our dinner info onto Facebook for sharing. I look forward to seeing you all again this month at dinner.

Marissa Cope
BPW Hawera Club President
