BPW
Business Professional Women
YOUR NETWORK, YOUR DEVELOPMENT!

About Us in a Nutshell

Aims & Ambitions

Picture
The Federation of Business and Professional Women (BPW) is an international organisation with consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and participatory status with the Council of Europe.

BPW develops the professional, leadership and business potential of women on all levels through advocacy, mentoring, networking, skill building and our economic empowerment programs and projects around the world.
There is a New Zealand federation (BPW NZ) and we’ve got a local club in Hawera.

Hawera is a very nice, social club with 30 members (age of members ranging from their twenties to sixties and with a variety of skills and occupations). Our membership is steadily growing. We have a dinner meeting (usually with a guest speaker) every 3rd Monday of the month, 6pm at Tairoa Lodge Church hall.

We get involved in “social responsibility” and community projects. Examples are our support to the Hawera Rape Crisis centre and the Taranaki safe families collaborative and their “Taranaki, where family violence is not OK” campaign.

We also have a strong focus on education and personal development and offer up to 1000 NZD “women's education” scholarship each year to a South Taranaki resident. Members have plenty of opportunity to further develop their skills and competences.

BPW offers a personal development program called “Keys to Achievement” or KTA and there is a mentoring program as well as little project teams which are great for members who would like to participate a bit more, but don’t have the time to make a big time commitment.

But we also just have a lot of fun; just meeting new people all the time as we are a growing club with an average of 3 guests per meeting, so there are always new people to meet.
