Marissa's Message Tēnā koutou katoa,
Well how did it get to May already! We have had an unusual few months at BPW Hawera with the last two meetings cancelled and I am missing seeing all your faces each month! Hopefully COVID is on the curve downwards and we can all see you for our May meeting. Our theme this month is Mother’s Day and we wanted to acknowledge those special women in our lives who help us grow and develop into the people we are today. They might not necessarily be our biological mothers but sometimes they have supported us just as well or more so. So, with that in mind can you please bring along a photo of a special woman in your life to celebrate and share with each other. We will also have Natalie Tua from The Strength Shed (see below for details) as our speaker for the night so it should be an enlightening and affirming evening. Don’t forget to invite any friends or acquaintances to the meeting who you might think would enjoy the night, the food, the speaker or all three. The weekend prior to our meeting is the BPW NZ Conference in Gisborne from 13th to 15th of May. Rebecca, Toni and I will be traveling over to attend the conference and be delegates for BPW Hawera. However, we do need your help and guidance on resolutions that will be passed at conference, including a Pay Transparency Resolution put forward by Vicky Mee which we have been asked to support as a club. So PLEASE PLEASE can you review the resolutions that Rebecca has sent through. Provide any feedback to her ASAP and also advise what you are happy to support or not. This is also the time of year we catch up with our BPW Twin club – BPW Denver Colorado. Desiree will be setting up a zoom meeting with them and I encourage you all to attend and get to know these lovely ladies. As you are all aware Linda has placed Tairoa on the market and with uncertainty around our dinner meetings continuing there from later in the year we would also like to have a discussion of options in case we do not continue meeting at Tairoa Lodge. Can you all put your thinking caps on and bring ideas to the meeting. Next month we will be having a club dinner and as World Milk day is in June we are going to have a Dairy Women’s Panel featuring the many women in our club who work in Dairy in all it’s forms. I love hearing from our members when they are speakers, I always find out so much from them and about them which reinforces what a wonderful, interesting and inspiring mix of women we have in our club. See you on the 16th! Marissa Cope To view the full newsletter click here...
