April is upon us, and with it is a sudden shift away from our endless summer weather heralding the
end of daylight savings. April is a busy month for many. Easter weekend disrupts our normal third Wednesday of the month dinner meeting, so we have chosen to move it forward to Monday 14th April. This is an important meeting to get good attendance at as we need, as a club, to vote on how we want our club delegates to vote at the AGM on each of the resolutions. Once a resolution is made BPW NZ or BPW International Policy BPW then has the mandate and can influence at higher levels. So come along and have your say. Our club is entitled to three voting delegates at the AGM, and all three votes will reflect the outcome of our decision on each resolution on the 14th . So, no time for a guest speaker this month – but we will break up the evening with some entertainment anyway. BPW New Zealand is selling raffle tickets to support the costs of hosting the conference, including a Waihi Beach Escape, and a multi-draw raffle with Luxury prizes. Tickets for the BPW NZ Conference Raffle are $10 each or 3 for $20. Tickets will be available at the April Dinner meeting, and I will send out more info on the prizes and how to get your raffle tickets separately. Info will also be on our Facebook page. As you are probably aware we give little gift packs to visitors to our club dinners, that contain information about BPW and our club, as well as a few little treats, and promotional items such as pens, pads etc from our club members. We are currently short of items for the gift bags, so if you have something you want added in to the gift bags to promote your business, please bring it along to a dinner meeting or pass on to a member of our committee. Can be something as simple as your business card, attached to a chocolate bar. Our club will recognise Anzac Day and lay a wreath at the Hawera dawn ceremony again this year. We will send out information about where to meet if you want to be part of the club contingent closer to the day. The BPW New Zealand AGM and Conference is going to be held the first weekend of May. The first day is open to BPW members only, and the second day is open to all women. Check out the speakers on the BPW New Zealand Facebook page – there appears to be some very interesting sessions on the agenda. May is Pink Ribbon Breakfast this month. Our committee is not organising a breakfast this year but will do a fundraiser for Pink Ribbon in May at our May dinner meeting. Any business owners that would like to participate by sponsoring or donating to our Pink Ribbon fundraiser please let us know – we can send an invoice option. Reminder, if you are on Facebook and do not currently follow our page, I recommend you do so, you’ll find us easily at BPW Hāwera. We will be posting more information and content on our Facebook page to supplement our monthly newsletter, our monthly meetings, and our Web Site content.
